Who we are
Out There NYC (“we,” “us,” or “the site”) is a curated discovery layer for in-person singles events in the New York City metro area. We are the operator of outthere.nyc. For privacy questions, contact hello@outthere.nyc.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the site and provide your account:
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or an email magic link, we receive your email address and (if available) your name and profile photo.
- Preferences and activity. Events you save, filters and locations you use to browse, and other actions you take within your account.
- Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) used for reliability, security, and abuse prevention. Approximate location derived from IP for relevant event surfacing.
- Cookies and session tokens. Strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
How we use it
- Provide and personalize the event discovery experience.
- Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
- Send transactional email (sign-in links, password resets, account notifications). We do not send marketing email without your consent.
- Improve the product based on aggregated usage patterns.
- Comply with legal obligations and prevent abuse.
Service providers we share with
We use a small set of trusted vendors to run the site. Each receives only the data needed for their role:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
- Vercel — site hosting and content delivery.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Google— “Sign in with Google” authentication and (if you use it) Google Workspace.
- Mapbox — map rendering and geocoding.
- OpenAI — server-side event enhancement (no personal data is sent).
We do not sell personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers.
Third-party event links
Out There NYC links to event pages operated by third parties (Eventbrite, Luma, Posh, Meetup, individual organizers, and others). When you click through, you are subject to that platform’s privacy practices. We have no control over their handling of your data.
Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your profile and saved activity within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal or security reasons.
Your rights
You can access, export, or delete your account data at any time from your settings or by emailing hello@outthere.nyc. If you are a California, EU, or UK resident, you have additional rights under CCPA, GDPR, or UK GDPR (including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a regulator). We will honor verified requests at no charge.
Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encrypted transport (TLS), encrypted storage at rest via our cloud providers, and strict access controls. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but commit to promptly notifying affected users of any material breach.
Children
Out There NYC is intended for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, email hello@outthere.nyc and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site at least seven days before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision.
